In general, the quantity and quality of sperm production in men depends on several factors. However, a recent Danish research hints that the hectic lifestyle and consumption of unhealthy beverages like cola or soda can have overwhelming effects on male fertility. Danish researchers have indicated that individuals, who consume a quart or more soda, cola each day, would have 30% less sperm count than guys, who don’t drink such soft drinks.

Men who frequently sip on sodas and colas are more likely to live unhealthier lifestyle, which could also adversely affect their fertility and trigger several sex issues. In this article, we’ll be discussing about the research held by Dr. Tina Kold Jensen, University Department of Growth and Reproduction at the Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen.

Study: Drinking Cola and Unhealthy Lifestyle Affect Male Fertility?

Around 2500 youngsters participated in the research conducted by Dr. Tina Jensen. Most of them were the men, who didn’t sip on sodas on daily basis as well as lived healthier lifestyle. This group had the sperm count at around 50 million/ml of semen. The group of men, who consumed sodas on daily basis and snaked on more fast foods, had around 35 million/ml sperm count.

Well, according to WHO, 35 million/ml is still a normal sperm count. However, it’s also true that the men with inferior sperm production have greater risk of several sexual issues and infertility. It is also important to note that researchers did not find any link between caffeine content of these drinks and lower sperm production. Drinking coffee and tea did not reflect the similar effects on that population. Researchers estimate that it is the unhealthy lifestyle and diet routines, which play important role in the quality and quantity of your sperm.

Healthy Diet and Balanced Lifestyle Promotes Your Reproductive Health

Several studies have proved that a well balanced diet, rich in fruits and vegetables, and a healthier lifestyle can significantly promote the reproductive health in both genders. Some studies have also shown that individuals, who ate more processed meat and dairy products than fruits and vegetables, had poor sperm quality.
